“The Carer in the Cotswolds”

'In Your Dreams', But Sent From Heaven?

What you’re told and aren’t is a terrible, sad indictment

Of lack of rights in the UK, it’s too impromptu;

You take your loved one to a hospital, for treatment;

They’ll not disclose that they can stop it when they want to

With no approval from your family, in the face of

All objections and all doubts you could possibly raise;

They’ll just continue, their mind set, no yield; in place of

Which they’ll totally disempower you, be amazed

This ain’t ‘gold standard’, nor no conceivable doubt – far from it,

As to whether your relation can pull through;

They’ll jump on no more than a ‘feel’, ‘opinion’ on it –

And that’s a very, very unsafe thing to do

Could you feel more violated, more hard done by,

As someone else moves in, and takes over your life?

You do not understand, can only watch, as they untie

With force each, every last bond that you have with your wife

Or father, mother, partner, husband, son or daughter;

They know not the relationship, what it might be;

‘The doctor always takes the lead’ – but what if guidelines say they oughta

Not have done so? Do you think they’ll care? Act contritely?

Perhaps be hauled before some punitive authority?

Be made accountable there, especially in extremes?

They’re all protected by a ‘principle’, ‘vicarious liability’;

They can’t be touched, so look for justice – in your dreams!

This one was channelled through in just four hours,

Between three, in the night time, and the morning, seven;

If it helps just a few people be prepared for fates like ours

Then could it be it really has been sent from heaven?
