There's A Land Within A Land...

When it came to implementing rule of law

There was no real way to seek to escape the net;

But sadly that is not the case in Britain any more;

There’s a land within a land police have chosen to forget

Where a uniform alone will serve to parry

Awkward questions about criminal intent,

And euthanasia’s legalized, and does not carry

With it charges, prosecution, as was meant

Where perjury is not on the agenda,

Never mind ‘Duty of Candour’ (fabrication);

Lie to courts at will, you know you’ll never render

Yourself open to police investigation

Face complainants, when they’re promised ‘resolution’,

Tell untruth after untruth, behind closed doors;

You know that disciplinary action’s a delusion,

You’ll be protected, for your value to ‘the cause’

Make a mockery of the system, add to woe,

Defile honour, spin, avoid and obfuscate;

It’s all the same, there’ll be no comeback, as you know,

So deny everything, and never hesitate

It may surprise you to discover where this land is –

It’s all around, and you’d do well even to guess;

It masquerades as everyone’s true, trusted, friend, but do know this;

That’s what it once was; and it’s called…the NHS
