“The Carer in the Cotswolds”

We Need Stacks Of A & E's

We used to have a first rate ambulance service
In this country, that would turn out straight away;
It’s still the self same organisation – on the surface,
But, underneath, its hands are tied ; has it had its day?

So many of its vehicles out of action,
Sat in ‘stacks’ outside our hospitals’ A & E’s,
An increasingly sidelined but vital fraction
Of our emergency care’s once capable armoury

Who will act to remedy this situation?
It’s thoroughly dangerous, perhaps our government, or MPs?
They show no sign as yet, no inclination,
Whilst the sick suffer and die, brought to their knees

Instead of ‘A & E ambulance stacks’, we need stacks of A & E’s!
Have daytime practices compelled to open doors
To assist with week-ends, night and evening times, and crises,
And give appointments quick – we’d be back where we were before…
